A young girl stands in the ruins of Darul Aman Palace on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan. This young girl is apart of a group of Afghan Kuchi tribal nomads who settled in the palace for several months under the protection of the Afghan paramilitiary police, who use the palace as a makeshift patrol base. These nomads were driven from a nearby area due to ethnic riots this summer. It amazes me how differences cause us to do wrong to others , and can cause a child like above to leave the comforts of her home to the nearest shelter - a dilapidated palace.
